Clinical Quote of the Day
As I'm taking out a catheter...
Patient: I just gave birth!
Me: Congratulations, it's a worm!
I love when patients and staff have a sense of humor.
I'm completely exhausted from a busy day at clinical. It was 9:30am when I first looked at the clock, the next time I looked, it was 12:30 and time for lunch. I'm really trying to get as much hands-on experience as possible so I can make the most of my time. Some days I'm dizzy with information.

Oldie, but goodie
This little gem was made a year or two ago from the 2010 Hoffman Challenge fabric and is still sitting in my basket awaiting backing and binding. I have a serious UFO problem!
If and when it is 100% complete, it will be going on our bed for the spring/summer. Another UFO is sitting in the basket as a fall/winter quilt for the bed.
I need a UFO-anonymous group!

Sunflowers and Sunshine
Today was a beautiful day to sit outside... and study. The weather has finally warmed up and I feel like I can finally reveal my spring break quilt. I was tired of all the rain, snow, and cold so I spent my spring break in a pile of colorful fabric--far away from the blues and greys of winter.
This comes from the April 2006 McCall's Quilting Magazine, Stars All Around pattern:

Forgive me for the lack of up-close pictures on the star detail. I'm still getting used to photographing. The outer border and center of the stars are made from a sunflower fabric. I have plenty of leftover scraps that I am going to make some pillows out of the star blocks.
The little dog in the corner? She is convinced that the quilt is for her. She already has her own dog quilt, fleece jackets, and a dog bed. Sorry pup, this one's for the humans.
After relishing in all the sunny yellows, oranges, and greens, the weather man had to announce that another winter storm was named tonight. Are you kidding me? It's the middle of April!!
Wishing you all the best this week!

I'm baaaaack
It has been a long time since I have blogged and so much has happened since my last post.
The quick and dirty:
1. I'm now in my second semester of nursing school.
2. I have received the official diagnosis of "lupus".
I hope to begin blogging regularly again about my adventures in nursing school, quilting projects, recipes, etc.
