First and foremost, thank you for the warm welcome to the blogging world. I love reading your comments!
As some of you may have noticed, I mentioned in my "About Me" that I have a chronic illness. At the time, I am being tested for SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythmatosus), commonly known as lupus. I will write about my journey to getting a diagnosis on a later day. In short, lupus makes me hurt. My joints are achy and feel like there are pebbles under my kneecaps. Pleasant feeling, right? My head hurts almost all the time, and I get tired really easily. The nice thing about lupus? Hubby knows I need my naps and makes sure it's quiet for me to get as much rest as I need. Nap-time did not end in kindergarten for this chick.
Last night I was in the worst joint pain I have experienced this far. Since I am still undergoing some testing, I can only take over-the-counter meds, none of which help. Initiate meltdown. There is so much that is still unknown at this point--how many organ systems are involved, will I be able to be passed on my physical for a program in medicine, how many other antibodies against my innards do I have, what complications am I going to have from these antibodies, etc. The cherry on top? I take the entrance exam to get into nursing school this afternoon. Oh the dread and boredom of taking a three and a half hour computerized exam. Needless to say, I reached my tipping point last night.
I finally looked up where the testing center is and what do you know, it's across the street from Tomorrow's Treasures quilt shop! I'm thinking a little treat is in order, don't you? There's nothing like the excitement and creativity you feel as you run your hand over all the bolts of fabric. The fabric screaming at you, "Pick me! Pick me!" *sigh* I wish I could bathe in fabric.
